Policies

The policies under which St Joseph’s operates create a clear understanding to all school community members of the values and obligations we have chosen to follow and uphold.

Attendance Policies

Regulations relating to school absences

Members of the St Joseph’s School community are advised that new rules have been introduced by the government to ensure students are attending school regularly and not missing out on too many days of learning. A link to information on school attendance requirements may be found by going to our School Attendance Information document located here.

Should your child need to be absent from school for reasons other than sickness, you are required to apply for an attendance exemption. Download and complete the Attendance Exemption Application Form (located here) to apply for an exemption.

Please note, applications for exemption must be completed and returned to school, or scanned and emailed to the St Joseph’s office, BEFORE the leave is taken.

Children are permitted to have a maximum 15 days leave in any one school year. (This includes sick days, attending funerals, specialist appointments, etc).

If you are planning a holiday in school time it is important that you apply for an exemption.
